Being undisciplined is another way of seeking to be in control. After all, when you abandon discipline, you do something undisciplined. And why do you do it? Because you want to feel good — right? You want to be in control of feeling good. You want to be able to deliberately, intentionally, by some act in the body-mind, feel good right then. So being undisciplined is an effort to be in control. But That Which makes life intelligible and auspicious ultimately has to do not with relinquishment of discipline, but with the relinquishment of control.
